Spicy Cheesy Kale Crisps

Ingredients

  • 200g kale (about ½ bunch), stems removed, leaves torn
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1½ tbsps nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ¾ tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper

How to preprare

  1. Preheat oven to 150°C. Line a baking tray with parchment.
  2. Place kale in a bowl, drizzle with oil, and massage into the leaves.
  3. Sprinkle seasonings and nutritional yeast, toss well.
  4. Spread evenly on tray. Bake 10 minutes.
  5. Stir gently, bake another 12–15 minutes until crisp (watch to avoid burning).
  6. Cool 3 minutes, serve.

Note

Kale crisps are a low-calorie, nutrient-dense alternative to crisps. Nutritional yeast gives a cheesy flavour without dairy. For an even lighter version, cut the oil to ½ tbsp and spray lightly instead.
